Its it ok to apply nylon strings on a acoustic steel guitar?

I have a Maestro by gibson acoustic steel guitar and i know normally when replacing the strings, you replace with steel strings. but i was curious if the next time i replace the strings with nylon strings. i had this idea when the steel strings have a "ring" on the end of it(the end where you put the string through the hole on the bridge) that some nylon strings have that as well. is it ok to replace the strings with these nylon strings with the rings at the end of it. do you understand? if i do, will there be problems except the fact i have to tune the strings more often since its nylon?
